Customs in Nakhchivan seized over 228 kg of heroin
Baku/09.03.22/Turan: Customs officers of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic seized more than 228 kg of heroin in two trucks transiting to Europe.
According to the country's Customs Committee, the trucks belonged to Turkish citizens who were carrying flour to the Netherlands via Azerbaijan.
The trucks entered through the customs checkpoint in Julfa, indicating they were coming from Iran.
While checking through X-rays, customs officers noticed drugs hidden in wooden pallets.
More than 113 kilograms of heroin were found in the first truck and the same amount in the second.
On these facts, a criminal case was opened against both drivers under Article 206 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (smuggling).
