Defendants in "Nardaran case" tell about new torture

On Wednesday, the Baku Serious Crimes Court  continued the  trial in the  "Nardaran case" where completed the hearings  on testimony of the accused. The main person involved in the case, the leader of the  "Muslim unity" Movement, Thale Bagirzade, demanded to summon  to the court Ali Hasanov, the Assistant of the President  for  Social and Political Issues. According to Bagirzade, Hasanov  through the patronized  TV channel "Khazar TV" misinformed the public about this criminal case.  Then gave testimonies Alibala Veliyev, who said that after the arrest in Nardaran the believers were brutally beaten on the way to the police. According to Valiyev, the police did not calm even after they  beat to death Faraim,  and continued to mock his corpse and the wounded. The defendant showed that he was forced to testify against Bagirzade and his deputy, Abbas Huseynov because of the threat to his honor and dignity.

Within 3-4 days they  "rehearsed" his testimony in front of the camera, where he was to specify a place in Nardaran, where were allegedly delivered weapons.

Another defendant Jabbarov also told about torture. When he said that he would write a complaint to Ilham Aliyev the police officers  in the  General Directorate for Combating organized crime swore sharply. "I want Ilham Aliyev to know  that  in Azerbaijan there is a place  where police curses when his name is mentioned," Jabbarov said.

* In the course of a special operation in Nardaran on  November 26, 2015, six  people were killed in the crossfire, including two policemen. Total in this case about 70 people were brought to trial, mostly members and supporters of the "Muslim unity" Movement. They are accused on a number of Articles of the Criminal Code: attempt to forcibly change the constitutional system, the creation of an organized armed criminal group and others.

Currently, trials in the case of 18 accused is ongoing in the  Serious Crimes Court in Baku. Among them was the deputy chairman of APFP Fuad Gahramanli, who is accused of anti-state calls, inciting religious hatred, calling for riots. In fact, Gahramanli wrote on his page in Facebook appeal to the Nardaran residents, urging them to defend their rights.-06D-
