Deputy Chairman of the Popular Front Party was not allowed into Georgia
Baku/12.01.23/Turan: On January 12, Deputy Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Seymour Hazi was not allowed into Georgia from Turkey at the Sarpi border checkpoint.
In early January he entered Georgia, and from there to Turkey, where he held a number of meetings with representatives of the political parties of this country, the activist himself told Turan.
When returning from Turkey to Georgia, he was not allowed in. Georgian border guards did not explain the reason for the ban.
According to Hazi, no claims were brought against him when leaving Georgia for Turkey.
Hazi believes that the authorities of Azerbaijan are behind his refusal to enter Georgia.
“The government is very dissatisfied with my visit to Turkey,” Hazi said.
He noted that Georgian lawyers took up his case.
It was not possible to get comments from the state bodies of Georgia.
Seymour Hazi was repeatedly persecuted in Azerbaijan on criminal and administrative cases.
In 2014, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison on trumped-up charges of hooliganism and served his term in full.
Hazi is the son-in-law of opposition politician Tofig Yagublu, who has also been arrested many times. He is still serving an administrative arrest and, as a sign of protest, is on a hunger strike for 8 days. -16/0D06-
