Russian Foreign Ministry accuses Yerevan of violating agreements
Baku/12.01.23/Turan: The statements of official Yerevan on the same issue differ significantly, the comments of the press secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova dated January 12 regarding the statements of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, during a press conference on January 10.
“During the press conference, the Prime Minister of Armenia spoke about the intention to sign the document on the basis of Russian proposals, and at the same time about the preference for some kind of “comprehensive solution” to the conflict promoted by the West,” she said.
“Yerevan’s agreement to rely on the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991 when developing a peace treaty with Baku, which was enshrined in a statement following the summit in October 2022 in Prague, radically changed the logic of the negotiation process. The Alma-Ata Declaration confirmed the inviolability of the borders that existed between the republics of the Soviet Union. At that time, the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region was part of the Azerbaijan SSR. Of course, this circumstance is very difficult to ignore in the peace process between Baku and Yerevan,” Zakharova said.
She accused Yerevan of disrupting the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan and Armenia on December 23, 2022 in Moscow.
“This prevented discussing not only the peace treaty, but also other pressing issues of the Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization, including the situation around the Lachin corridor,” Zakharova said.-02D-

Official Baku has condemned the visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to the Azerbaijan-Armenia border during his official visit to Armenia. "The visit of Polish President Andrzej Duda to the to Armenia-Azerbaijan border area in the company of members of the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA), unfortunately, is another demonstration of anti-Azerbaijani policy of different EU member countries and European institutions. We deeply regret that President of the country which is officially a “strategic partner” of Azerbaijan has participated in the unacceptable diplomatic “binocular show” leading to the aggravation of relations between Azerbaijan and Poland,”" reads the statement on the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ account on X (formerly Twitter).
