Baku/05.07.18/Turan: Lawyer Fuad Agayev was invited to the session of the Presidium of the Bar of Azerbaijan to be held on July 9 in connection with the disicplinary proceedings against him. The head of the Bar Association, Anar Bagirov, confirmed to the Azerbaijani service of the Voice of America the beginning of the disciplinary proceedings against Agayev. "The Disciplinary Commission has already considered the case, presented the conclusion. On July 9, the conclusion of the disciplinary commission will be considered at the board meeting. After that, extensive information will be provided about the Board"s decision," Bagirov said.
However, he refrained from giving details of the reasons for the investigation and the content of the conclusion of the disciplinary commission. According to unofficial information, the Penitentiary Service of Azerbaijan filed a complaint against Agayev. It should be noted that Fuad Agayev is one of the iconic and bright figures in the community of lawyers of Azerbaijan.
Being one of the active participants of the national-democratic movement in October 1991, he co-wrote the text of the Constitutional Act on State Independence of Azerbaijan. Agayev is considered one of the best lawyers in both criminal and civil cases. Agayev has been a lawyer since 1982, since 1991 he has been a member of the Bar Association. During the years of advocacy, he defended the rights of many prominent politicians, journalists, bloggers.
At the present time, his clients are well-known political figure Ilgar Mammadov, who is still in jail despite two decisions by the Strasbourg Court, blogger and human rights activist Mehman Huseynov, film screenwriter Rustam Ibragimbekov (case in the Strasbourg Court), leader of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Ali Kerimli (in connection with the criminal case against the PFPA activists in the so-called "money laundering" case), etc.
In recent years, a number of lawyers have been excluded from the Bar Association: Intigam Aliyev, Annagi Hajibeyli, Namizad Safarov, Khalid Bagirov, Aslan Ismailov, İrada Javadova, Alaif Hasanov, Elchin Namazov, Yalchin Imanov, Muzaffar Bakhishov, Farhad Mehdiyev, and others.
Famous lawyers Fahraddin Mehtiyev, Asabali Mustafayev and Nemat Kerimli were suspended from work for a year. -03B06-

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
