Due to bans, Milena Nabieva and friends cannot help people in need
Baku / 04.04.20 / Turan: Due to the ban on leaving the house on the night of April 5 to counter the coronavirus, thousands of citizens in Azerbaijan lost the opportunity to earn for living. Their families are on the verge of starvation. The ban does not allow even a few voluntarily to these families.
One of them is Baku artist Milena Nabieva. She and her son and daughter buy and receive food from like-minded people, pack food at home in boxes, while spraying the goods with a disinfecting solution. They work at home. Until April 5th, they were delivering food to the homes of those in need by the car of Milena’s relative, whose addresses were reported to her by friends on a social network - pasta, butter, condensed milk, sour cream.
During a day they helped 10-15 families in different parts of the city - Guneshli, Ahmedlu, Razin, NZS ... They returned home in the evening at 10 o’clock. Until April 5 they delivered 107 boxes. From today, this work has stopped, because the police fines 100 manat for unauthorized departure and exit to the streets. “With this money I could buy products,” Milena told Turan.
Appeals to the automated system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will take Milena a lot of time, for which she could help many people. "Every minute is dear to us. We get up in the morning at nine in the morning, glue the boxes and stand on our feet until night." In addition, SMS permissions are valid for no more than two hours, and are given once a day. In two hours, they will be able to bring boxes to no more than two needy families.
She is glad that some stores agreed to deliver food to her home. However, upset by the increase in the price of buckwheat from 1 manat 59 qepiks to 1 manat 79 qepiks per kilogram.
Milena added, “Thanks to everyone who helped. Thanks to those who could help the poor, but did not respond. I didn’t even want to post information about our group on our pages so that the number of help would increase”
In December 2019, M. Nabiyeva organized and held a charity exhibition of paintings by Azerbaijani artists. All funds received from the sale of paintings were used to pay for the treatment of sick children. We wrote about this exhibition here https://www.turan.az/ext/news/2019/12/free/Culture/ru/85890.htm
