Editor Not Released from Azerbaijan
Baku / 07.31.19 / Turan: The editor of the website Hefteaz.info, a member of the Musavat Party Agil Mahmudov was detained by border guards today while leaving for Georgia.
He was told that for his departure a ban was imposed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was reported to Turan by Mahmudov himself.
"I was taken to the police and held there for 8 hours. They sent a request to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It turned out that the "stop" was introduced by the Goychay district police due to the fact that I was arrested in 2018 for 20 days administratively for participating in a picket," said Mahmudov.
The journalist considers the ban on foreign travel to be illegal, since he fully served the administrative penalty. Mahmudov intends to apply to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and seek to have the ban lifted. It was not possible to get comments from Goychay police or the Interior Ministry. -21C--
