ELCHIN BEHBUDOV: NUMBER OF TORTURES INCREASE
Human rights defender noted the growth of the number of women subjected to tortures, threat of rape and physical violence. As an example, he reminded the case of Jeyhun Mamedov who was subjected to tortures in Sabunchi police. Despite the appeal of Behbudov to Interior Ministry on this fact, it has not been considered.
Tortures are shame for every country, and despite their existence the authorities do not want to admit them.
Behbudov said that victims of tortures are afraid to protect their rights. He reminded that the International Day on Support of Tortures Victims was founded by the UN General Assembly and Azerbaijan joined the Convention against Tortures in 1996
