Baku / 09.09.20 / Turan: Emin Sagiyev, recognized by human rights activists as a political prisoner, continues his hunger strike for 22 days in prison number 6, demanding the cancellation of the unfair court sentence. This was reported by members of his family.

According to the same source, the condition of Sagiyev, who was placed in the prison's medical unit, is getting worse every day. His kidney and heart pains, low blood pressure worsened.

Recall that Sagiyev was arrested in November 2017, and in 2018 he was sentenced to 7 years on charges of drug trafficking on a large scale.

However, local human rights activists are convinced that Sagiyev was punished for his journalistic activities by his brother-in-law, the political emigrant Turkel Azerturk. The latter has been living in Europe for several years and has sharply criticized the Azerbaijani authorities on the Azerbaijan Saaty Internet resource.

Sagiyev went on a hunger strike after the country's Supreme Court on August 18 dismissed his appeal against the verdict. The defense intends to submit an additional cassation appeal to the Plenum of the Supreme Court and apply to the ECHR. — 06B-
