Families of "prisoners of hijab" demand the release of arrested believers

Family members of the so-called "prisoners of hijab", the believers convicted of involvement in protests against the ban on headscarves in schools, held a conference on "Violated rights of believers and  ways of resolutions" in the International Press Center.

 
 Wife of  the inmate Abgul Suleymanov, said that women wearing the hijab, like all citizens, have a right to education, work, health care, freedom of conscience. She said that not  any law of the country  has a ban on the wearing  the hijab. However, women in hijab are deprived of the  right to education, they  are not photographed  for the passport and ID card, she said.
 
 Wife of Movsum Samedov, the chairman of the Islamic Party, reminded that Azerbaijan is an Islamic country, and Islam attributes  are on  the flag of the country, however, the prohibitions related to the hijab, take place. She also believes that  it is wrong not to allow girls that cover their heads  to attend schools. She called  to stop it.
 
The conference  resulted in the adoption a declaration, which expressed protest against the ban on wearing headscarves in schools. This is regarded as a violation of the Constitution.
 
Participants of the conference expressed their protest against the arrests and demanded the release of all detainees "prisoners of hijab," also called to prevent inhuman treatment against them, and to punish those who allowed it to happen.
 
According to the Institute for Peace and Democracy,  there are 256 believers  in prison in the country, and most of them have suffered for protesting against the violation of religious rights. -05C04-
