FC Neftchi Makes It to Third Round of Europa League, FC Sumgait, FC Keshla Ingloriously Leave Tournament
Baku / 28.08.20 / Turan: Of the three Azerbaijani football clubs playing in the Europa League, only FC Neftchi from Baku made it to the third qualifying round.
On Thursday, FC Neftchi won the North Macedonian FC Shkupi with a score of 2: 1.
In the first half, the Bakuvians did not play expressively and did not create a single dangerous moment at the opponent's goal.
In the second half FC Neftchi played more vigorously and created a number of scoring chances, realizing two of them. In added minutes the guests won back a goal.
FC Sumgait lost to another North Macedonian team Shkendia with a score of 0: 2.
FC Keshla, in turn, could not overcome the Albanian FC Lachi. The main and extra time of the match ended in a goalless draw. The Albanians were luckier in the penalty shootouts, winning 5: 4.
Due to the quarantine regime, European qualification matches are held only once.
The draw was favorable to the Azerbaijani clubs and they all played at home.
However, only FC Neftchi managed to realize this advantage.
It should be reminded that in the Champions League, FC Karabakh also advanced to the third round, having alternately won the North Macedonian FC Sileks 4: 0 and Moldovan FC Sheriff 2: 1. –06D-
