Finance Ministry: Residents of Sovetskaya Street will not get more than 1,500 manats per square meter
Residents of homes in the area of ??the former Sovetskaya Street will receive compensation for the demolition of their homes at the rate of 1,500 manats per 1 sq. m. and not a penny more. This is evidenced by the Ministry of Finance message.
According to the Ministry of Finance, foreclosure of homes on Sovetskaya is based on the principle of "voluntary." In this case, reference is made to Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov, saying that housing and land in this zone will be acquired for the state needs. This means that the upper limit of the cost per square meter of the actual total size of the property is determined at 1,500 manats.
This amount is determined, based on analysis, and taking into account the opinions of independent experts, said the Ministry of Finance.
Thus, despite the fact that the said zone is situated near the central part of the city, a number of factors adversely affects the market value. In particular, most of the buildings do not comply with the rules and requirements of today's urban planning and security, utilities, communications and other infrastructure systems are in poor condition.
Given the above, the proposed compensation "reflects the realities of the real estate market and is fair enough," said the Ministry of Finance.
"Those who do not agree with the proposed prices continue to live as before. Nevertheless, approximately 100 owners have already signed a contract for the sale of their property, and funds have already been transferred to their bank accounts," the statement says.
Recall that on February 16 a few thousand inhabitants of the district staged a protest and demanded higher compensation amounts. Particularly angry, are citizens who have a small living space area and who, for the proposed compensation, could not buy decent housing, even in remote villages. -1606D-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
