Shahbaz Khuduoglu: They want to bankrupt us
The Department of Preliminary Investigations of the Ministry of Taxes initiated a criminal case under Article 213 (tax evasion) in respect of the publishing house Qanun (Law) and the editorial board of the magazine Qanun headed by the journalist Shahbaz Khuduoglu. The lawyer Muzaffar Bakhishov told Turan.
November 1, 2013 about 20 employees of the Ministry of Taxes forcibly seized documents and computers of the publisher and editorial staff. In this regard, a lawsuit was filed against the Ministry of Taxes to invalidate the seizure of property and documents of the printing house and the editorial office. However, Baku Administrative - Economical Court No 1 rejected the claim.
Following the audit, the Ministry of Taxes applied sanctions against Qanun and the Editor, totaling 150 thousand manats, the lawyer said.
Khuduoglu himself said that about 50 people - employees of these structures, including translators and writers were
invited to submit testimony to the investigation.
Khuduoglu himself will testify on March 4.
"This is an order to put pressure on us. Someone wants to use accusations of tax evasion for the bankruptcy of the publishing house Qanun to monopolize the industry. We met all statutory tax liabilities," said Khuduoglu.
Recall that the publishing house Qanun printed campaign materials of the opposition presidential candidate Jamil Hasanli and the National Council during the presidential elections. After this, checking started in the publishing house. -03B06-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
