Georgian Supreme Court - Farman Jeyranly will be imprisoned to six years

Baku/03.08.19/Turan: On August 2, the Supreme Court of Georgia noted the decision of the Appeal Court of Georgia in relation to the famous surgeon Farman Jeyranly, and shortened his imprisonment sentence, Jamil Hasanli, the head of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) announced this on his Facebook page.

According to him, the Supreme Court made such a "shameful" decision on its own initiative, and there was such an appeal from the prosecutors of Georgia.

In February 2018, Jeyranly was sentenced to six years in prison, but in December of the same year, the Appeals Court of Georgia reduced this period to 2 years and 3 months, and in August 2019, he should have been released.

It is unclear what caused the decision of the Supreme Court of Georgia and why it canceled the decision of the Appellate Court.

Instead, Jeyranli the term of his imprisonment was prolonged

In 2018 the court of Georgia found Jeyranli guilty under the Articles 180 and 247 of the Criminal Code Georgia (fraud and concealment of information leaks that pose a danger to life and health of person). The talk is about death of a patient in the Lancet clinic, the founder of which is Jeyranli.

In court Jeyranly said that he was arrested by political order. Pro-government press accused Jeyranly of illegal financing the Azerbaijani opposition and this was the cause of his prosecution, according to relatives of a famous surgeon. -02D-
