Group V.B.O.N. now in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani group “V B.O.N. (“For the benefit of the common people”), recently based on the social network VKontakte has been launched. According to its participants, their only goal is to help fellow compatriots and protect the traditional values of their people. Active conversations around the Movement began on October 13, when a video with the plate “V B.O.N.” began to be distributed on the Web. In the footage, Azerbaijanis beat the Russians, forcing them to apologize on camera. Under the organization’s label, videos are posted on social networks demonstrating the beating of individuals who speak viciously about Azerbaijan, or wear clothes that distinguish them from the people, as well as representatives of non-traditional sexual orientation, mainly V B.O.N. functions in Russia; but a message appeared in the social network with the signature of the organization about the punishment of non-traditional sexual minorities in Baku.

The Russian press published articles telling about the charitable activities of this group: they saved homeless Azerbaijani children, helped a poor Azerbaijani family treat their child, etc.

"V.B.O.N. - these are real Azerbaijanis who do not care about their people and how our people behave. That is, in relation to everything, to his parents, country, other nations, religion. The association to help their fellow countrymen who found themselves in a difficult situation,” said one of the association’s members in an interview with Readovka.ru.

The Russian police identified the leaders of the group; these are Abdullah and Binat Bunniatov. Binat Bunniatov confirmed his involvement in the Movement. He noted that there are times when “outside people” write on behalf of the association. According to him, the videos are directly related to "VB.O.N." On October 31, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia clarified, ".... Regarding individual videos posted on social networks by unknown authors, the embassy believes that their accuracy should be established by the relevant law enforcement agencies and those responsible should be punished under Russian law.

“At the same time, we strongly condemn the practice of uploading this kind of video materials, the purpose of which, of course, is to try to form an opinion in Russian society about the alleged national intolerance of Azerbaijanis towards Russians,” the statement said.

The embassy calls on all compatriots to be vigilant and not succumb to any provocations that could damage the image of Azerbaijanis living in Russia, as well as be used against Azerbaijan, "the embassy said.

For a long time working in Moscow and deported from there this year, journalist Fuad Abbasov claims to be in charge of VBO.N. young Azerbaijani students who care about the fate of Azerbaijanis in this country. “They do not beat anyone, they do not rape anyone. VBON includes hundreds of Azerbaijanis. There is not a single person who would be associated with crime. There are exclusively people with normal thinking. Their goal is to do at least something good for their homeland,” said Abbasov (axar.az).

The position of the members of “VBO.N.”, according to the media of the Russian Federation, is as follows: they are tired of the shame that, in their opinion, is covered by their careless compatriots. Having tried to create a community of people who defend the traditional values of the country and the people, the organizers of the association could not maintain control. Some people have crossed the line and are now threatening physical harm even for the mere mention of facts that discredit Azerbaijan.

The first deputy chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources, Property and Land Relations Vasily Vlasov in an interview with “360” confirmed the information that he had sent a request to the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a request to check the group “V.B.N”” in the social network "VKontakte" on extremism. The Ministry of Internal Affairs checks "VB.O.N” for extremism. All members of the association and sources of financing the movement are established. There are more than 250 people and dozens of companies in the development of police, through which, presumably, “donations” for the organization (“Base”) arrived. According to the materials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the association was founded under the patronage of the Azerbaijani diaspora of Moscow. Among its members, there are representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other law enforcement agencies, which allowed the group members to find out quickly information about their offenders from the Network. On Monday, October 28, one of the administrators of V B.O.N. was brought to the police. The name of this person is not noted. During the survey, he said that his group had nothing to do with beating people, and all videos were sent by users. It became known that the community "V.B.O.N. will be deleted by decision of the administrator of the public "VKontakte".
