Baku/08.07.22/Turan: Muslims celebrate Gurban Bayram (feast of sacrificial animals) on July 9-10.
These days are considered non-working days in Azerbaijan. July 11 and 12 are announced to be non-working days, given that this year the holiday fell on the weekend.
Gurban Bayram traditionally coincides with the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage to the holy places in Mecca.
On the day of the holiday, believers sacrifice sheep in memory of the Prophet Ibrahim, who was ready to sacrifice his son in the name of Allah. Touched by this, the Almighty did not allow it. As a result, a sheep was sacrificed.
It is customary to distribute the meat of sacrificial animals among the poor. -05D-
