Hafiz Mammadov released under house arrest
Baku/31.01.22/Turan: Entrepreneur Hafiz Mammadov has been placed under house arrest because of the decision by the judge of the Yasamal district court Hussein Safarov, having granted the petition of the defense.
Mammadov was arrested last Thursday at the suggestion of the Main Department for the Investigation of Tax Crimes of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy. He is accused of tax evasion and mandatory state social insurance payments at enterprises headed by Mammadov.
According to the lawyer Orkhan Jafarbeyli, part of the amount charged - 600 thousand manats has already been paid. Mammadov undertook to pay the remaining amount, the lawyer said. Earlier, the media reported that the total amount of Mammadov's debt is 1.4 million manats.
* A native of the Nakhchivan region, Mammadov has been in business since the 1990s. He was known for being close to the current authorities. Since 2003, Mammadov has been president of the Baghlan Group FZCO holding.
In 2004, Mammadov became the president of the Football Club "Baky", in 2005 - a member of the Executive Committee, a member of the Executive Committee of the AFFA (Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan), the national football association.
In 2013-2015, Mammadov was one of the sponsors of the Spanish football club Atletiko, whose players went to matches in T-shirts with the inscription "Land of fire Azerbaijan" (Land of Fire Azerbaijan).
