Head of NGO condemns the Ministry of Finance in outrage

Roundtable on the topic of non-payment of insurance benefits  to the families of the dead or missing soldiers was held  today  by a  public association " Officers in reserve and retired."

According to the chairman of the association, Yasar Jafarli, insurance payments  comprise  11.000 manat for each soldier. This mainly concerns the heirs of soldiers killed or missing in the period from 1992 to 1997.

According to  Jafarli, since 2009 Association  has been investigating  ways to assist the citizens of this category. As a result, the issue was put to a judicial level. In 2010, the courts in connection with the payment of the insurance money, passed a ruling on 38 cases, and  all of them have been fulfilled. Recently, however, the problems with the insurance money have grown. Insurance Management blamed the Ministry of Finance for non-issuance of insurance, and the Ministry blames them. 

The courts have been instructed not to accept such claims, and not respond them.

Several parents appealed to  the Finance Ministry to resolve the problem, but there have advised them not to go to public associations.

Yashar Jafarli accused the authorities of the country of the absence of political will in the issue of insurance payments, and blamed the Ministry of Finance and Insurance Management  of  bureaucratic arbitrariness. He said he would fight on this issue until the European Court.

Representatives of the Ombudsman's office, the Ministry of Finance, insurance offices did not come to today’s event. -05C04-
