Human Rights Activist Ogtay Gulaliyev about Claims against Him in Ministry of Internal Affairs
Baku / 06.02.19 / Turan: The Coordinator of the Center for the Protection of Political Prisoners (CPPP) Ogtay Gulaliyev was summoned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) on February 5.
According to the human rights activist who spoke to Turan, the head of the MIA Investigation Department Ogtay Karimov talked with him.
"My publications and the recent report of the CPPP on tortures were discussed. I was reminded about my previous articles, reports of flood victims on the Kura River, earthquakes in the Zagatala region, and references to political prisoners," said the human rights activist.
Some publications were regarded as "attempts to discredit the police" and "speaking against the state." "I was told that I was writing about "torture laboratories" in Azerbaijan and asked, 'Where are they?' I pointed to the statements of victims of torture in courts," said the human rights activist.
According to Gulaliyev, he was warned. "I was warned, saying that they were tracking my publications, and if necessary, they would call again," said Gulaliyev.
According to him, the conversation with the head of the department lasted about two hours.
