Hunger strike of believers in prisons becomes wider
Baku/07.06.22/Turan: The hunger strike of convicted leader of the "Muslim Unity Movement" Taleh Bagirzadeh was supported by a number of other convicted believers. They are protesting against the use of torture in the police facility and the blasphemy of law enforcement officers.
According to Polad Aslanov's wife, her husband reported that he had started a hunger strike since June 6 and officially notified the management of Colony 1 about it. Another member of the "Muslim Unity Movement" Jabbar Jabbarov went on hunger strike in the same colony.
In Gobustan prison another activist of the "Muslim Unity Movement", Abbas Huseynov, started the hunger strike, his relatives reported.
Bagirzadeh himself has been on hunger strike for the fifth day. "Yesterday, Taleh and I spoke on the phone, he is on hunger strike for the fifth day. He drinks only water, says that he still feels normal, but his voice was strained. The administration of the colony insists on stopping the action; however, Taleh rejects it. Despite the hunger strike, he was not isolated, he remains in a regular cell," said his wife.
The prison service remained unavailable for comment.
Recall that Taleh Bagirzadeh, leader of the "Muslim Unity Movement" (MUM) who is serving a long prison sentence, began a hunger strike on June 3. He protests against the torture of believers in the police and insults by law enforcement officials to Allah.
On May 23, at a press conference, two religious activists who had been detained on May 20 in front of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes said that the law enforcement officers had tortured believers and insulted Allah.-06B-
