Ilgar Mammadov Confirmed He Does Not Ask for Liberation - Lawyer
Baku / 11.12.17 / Turan: On December 11, the attorney Fuad Agayev visited the political prisoner Ilgar Mammadov, the leader of the REAL movement, in Prison No 2.
During the meeting, Mammadov was informed of the statement of the assistant to the head of state Novruz Mammadov that Mammadov could be released ahead of schedule.
"Ilgar Mammadov once again confirmed that he does not intend to apply for parole. There is a decision of the European Court of Human Rights that his arrest is connected with political activities and to shut his mouth, and therefore he must be immediately and unconditionally released," Fuad Agayev wrote on his Facebook page.
With regard to the authorities' proposal for a dialogue with a view to finding a solution to the problem, the lawyer noted that if the case against Mammadov was closed on justifiable grounds, as if it had no crime, the defense is ready to request withdrawal of the appeal of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to the European Court of Human Rights concerning Azerbaijan, Agayev said.
Recall that the Council of Europe began a procedure to impose sanctions against Azerbaijan in connection with Baku's refusal to comply with the decisions of the European Court and release Ilgar Mammadov.
If in the near future Mammadov is not released, the imposition of sanctions against Baku will inevitably begin. -02 / 03D-
