In 2021, 41 thousand mines were cleared in the liberated territories
Baku/07.01.22/Turan: In 2021, over 20 thousand hectares of territories were cleared from mines and unexploded ordnance in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from the Armenian occupation, stated on January 7 the head of the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov.
Demining is carried out by ANAMA specialists together with representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergencies and the State Border Service. Found 41.503 thousand mines and unexploded ordnance. 1,981 ha of agricultural land was cleared and transferred for exploitation, 1,373 ha - for housing, 1,618 ha - for transport, 586 ha - for power lines and 644 ha - for other objects. According to Suleymanov, in 2022, it is planned to clean up a total of 40,000 hectares of the territory.
After the end of the second Karabakh war on November 10, 2020, 25 civilians and seven soldiers were killed in the liberated territories as a result of mine explosions. At the same time, 97 servicemen and 40 civilians received bodily injuries of varying degrees. --03В06--
