MLSPP does not deny its intention to deprive military pensioners of a special allowance
Baku/07.01.22/Turan: The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population (MLSPP) published in some media its official attitude to the petition of military pensioners accusing the ministry of working on a law that infringes upon their rights.
“The information on one of the pages of the social network about the preparation of a proposal to allegedly abolish the procedure for increasing the pensions of servicemen on the basis of an increase in the cost of providing them is erroneous. Such a proposal does not exist and is not even considered. In general, no changes have been made to the pension legislation in general that could negatively affect the pension income of military personnel. On the contrary, as part of the social reforms in 2019, the pensions of these persons were increased (by an average of 30%). Currently, pensions are assigned to servicemen on the basis of the costs of providing them, and is also recalculated and increased when these costs increase,” the ministry said, sending a letter to the media from the head of the public relations and communications department of the MLSPF Fazil Talibov.
The ministry's response also says that the maintenance payment is included in the military pension. The answer does not say that this form of benefit will be retained in the new law. An interesting place in the statement of the MLSPP of the population can be considered a proposal to increase the salaries of military personnel on January 1, 2022, in accordance with which they will receive a pension in the future. It is not clear from the answer how the pension that today's military personnel will receive in many years has to do with the needs of today's military pensioners.
In a letter to President I. Aliyev on January 6, military pensioners accused the MLSPP of preparing a bill that ignores the legal right of military pensioners to annually indexed pensions and a special allowance (maintenance payment). The authors of the appeal draw the president's attention to the fact that the increase in salaries, pensions and benefits from January 1, 2022 did not affect military pensioners.
The authors of the appeal to the president told Turan that the ministry said in a response to an increase in pensions in 2019, while inflation annually lowers the real living standards of pensioners. "The indexation of our pensions and benefits should be carried out annually, and not three years ago," said one of the authors of the letter to the President, Uzeyir Jafarov.
Another military pensioner, Rovshan Maharramov, suggested choosing a delegation and sending it to a meeting with President I. Aliyev. -0-
