International Committee of Journalists (ICJ) demands the release of Tofig Yagublu
International Committee to Protect Journalists (New York) , condemned the verdict on conviction Tofig Yagublu to five years of imprisonment.
CPJ calls on the Azerbaijani authorities to eliminate a verdict against journalist of the newspaper "Yeni Musavat".
"Azerbaijan should put an end to the practice of imprisonment journalists," said the coordinator of the Committee for Europe and Central Asia, Nina Ognenova.
"Baku has to work hard to improve its image, to consider its role in the Council of Europe. As a first step, the Azerbaijani authorities must release Yagublu and other imprisoned journalists," says Ognenova.
In May this year Azerbaijan will chair by rotation the Committee of Ministers. At the same time, eight journalists in the country are under arrest.-03D04-

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
