International Human Rights Activists Visited Mamedov and Zeynalli

A delegation of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) – four people led by the representative for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Alexandra Kulaeva - visited the Baku detention facility in the village Kurdakhani yesterday.

 
Turan was reported by the head of the Azerbaijan National Committee of Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Arzu Abdullayeva that the delegation visited the prison, including the women's part. The human rights activists also met with the editors of the newspapers Tolyshi Sado and Khural - Hilal Mamedov and Avaz Zeynalli contained in this center.
 
 They also wanted to meet with the opposition leaders Ilgar Mamedov and Tofig Yagublu, but they were told that these people were absent in connection with the investigation activities.
 
   The delegation will also meet with the lawyers of the arrested political activists and journalists.
 
  Tomorrow the delegation’s visit ends. For a week they had various meetings, getting acquainted with the political situation in Azerbaijan. -06D-
