Journalist Avaz Zeynally Interrogated on Huseyn Abdullayev Case
Baku / 23.05.18 / Turan: The editor-in-chief of the newspaper Khural, Avaz Zeynally, was interrogated for two hours in the Investigatory Directorate for Grave Crimes of the Prosecutor General's Office as a witness in the case of the businessman Huseyn Abdullayev.
The investigation was interested in his phone calls with Abdullayev, Zeynally told Turan. "They asked me why I called Abdullayev and why I published articles by him," Zeynalli said.
The former member of the Azerbaijani parliament Huseyn Abdullayev emigrated from the country in 2013 and criticized the authorities of Azerbaijan. After that, a criminal case was initiated against him on a tax charge. On April 22, he was detained in Turkey and extradited to Azerbaijan.
Abdullayev was also charged under Art. 192.2.2 (illegal business with the extraction of large income), 178.2.1 (fraud), 178.2.2, 178.2.4, 182.2.1 (extortion without threats), 182.2.2 and 182.2.4 of the Criminal Code. -----03C06-
