State Security Service Arrests Cybercriminals
Baku / 23.05.18 / Turan: The State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan has arrested a Russian citizen Pavel Lunin and a Ukrainian citizen Serb Andrei on charges of cybercrime. In particular, they are accused of illegally transferring millions of dollars from Azerbaijani banks,
The SSS press service informs that in May 2018 the defendants created formal companies that opened bank accounts and carried out illegal money transfers from foreigners' accounts to their accounts in local banks and then to CIS countries.
As a result of the measures, together with the Financial Markets Supervision Authority, suspects in committing these crimes, Pavel Lunin and Serb Andrei, were identified and detained. The funds in their bank accounts are frozen.
Both are prosecuted under Art. 177 (theft) and 272 (illegal receipt of computer information) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, and both have been arrested by a court decision. -02D-
