"Karabakh", having defeated Zurich, will continue to fight in Champions League
Baku/07/28/22/Turan: The Agdam football club "Karabakh" played a 2-2 draw with the local team "Zurich" in Zurich on July 27. Thus, "Karabakh" won the sum of two meetings with a score of 5:4 and advanced to the third round of the Champions League.
The match was held in a tense atmosphere and was not easy for "Karabakh" after Maxim Medvedev cut the ball into his own goal at the very beginning.
Despite all the efforts of "Karabakh" to win back, it failed in the first half.
At the beginning of the second half, Kadi, taking advantage of mistakes by the defense, restored the balance 1:1.
After conceding a goal, "Zurich" intensified its attacks, but failed to achieve success.
The chief referee appointed seven additional minutes, during which the hosts were able to take the lead. Following the results of two games ("Karabakh" won 3:2 in Baku) the score is even. Therefore, extra time was assigned to identify the winner – two halves of 15 minutes each.
"Karabakh" after conceding a goal at the very end of the game, did not lose heart and immediately went on the attack in extra time. At 98th minute Ovusa, having received the ball from Zubir, struck irresistibly into the bottom corner of the goal – 2:2.
A lot of questions were raised by the refereeing of the Dutchman Allard Lindhout, who could not stop the players' rudeness in any way.
"Karabakh" has reached the third round and its next opponent will be Hungarian champion "Ferencvaros". The first match will take place on August 3 in Baku and on August 9 away.
If "Karabakh" also passes the third round, then the winners of the pairs Ludogorets (Bulgaria) - Dynamo (Zagreb, Croatia), Sheriff (Moldova) – Victoria (Czech Republic) or Copenhagen (Denmark) can become its potential opponents in the playoffs. -06B-
