Man accused of violence against minor detained
Baku/20.10.21/Turan: In the evening of October 19, the Prosecutor's Office detained Asker Agayev suspected of raping minor, gender- activist Sanay Yagmur. This was reported by the victim's mother, writer Zumrud Yagmur.
She was officially informed about it by the investigation department of the General Prosecutor's Office. The investigation was resumed after the family and public members appealed to Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev.
The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office confirmed the information as saying that within 48 hours, the detainee would appear before the court for selection of a preventive measure.
Last week, victim's mother, writer Zumrud Yagmur accused her nephew of the crime. According to her, he drugged the victim.
Yagmur said that earlier the investigation had failed to conduct a real investigation, and was shielding the rapist. Yagmur's statement in social networks resonated and activists demanded from the General Prosecutor's Office an objective investigation.
It ought to be noted that the father of the victim is a well-known politician, a member of the Presidium of the Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan (PPFA) Fuad Gahramanly.
After that, the General Prosecutor's Office said that the criminal case in this case launched by the Yasamal region prosecutor's office under Article 149.2.3 of the Criminal Code has been taken under the personal supervision of the General Prosecutor.
