The Head of the Derbent region, Kurban Kurbanov, was arrested on charges of increase of power. "At present, a number of investigative measures is taken to confirm his guilt, and the preventive measure should be determined," said the representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Dagestan, Rasul Temirbekov.
A lawsuit under Part 2 of Article 286 in relation to K.Kurbanova was filed on September 16, 2014. He is suspected of abuse of power, according to "Interefax."
According to investigators, from 2009 to 2013. K.Kurbanov gave 56 hectares of land in Derbent region owned by the government of Dagestan, to "other persons" violating the land legislation of Russia and Dagestan.
Problems of Kurbanov (an ethnic Azeri) began after Ramadan Abdullatipov has been appointed the head of Dagestan, and started a struggle against the heads of local administrations. -06D—
