Media experts submit to parliament amendments to 40 Articles of the draft law on media
Baku/27.12.21/Turan: Last week, representatives of the Milli Mejlis and heads of relevant structures discussed the draft law on media with the head of the media group and a media law expert Alesker Mammadli. Since there are many proposals for amendments to the draft and in some cases, they are conceptual in nature, as a result of the discussions, it was decided to submit them to parliament in writing.
Taking into account the opinions of media experts Mehman Aliyev, Gulu Maharramli, Elchin Shikhly, Arif Aliyev, Osman Gunduz, media law experts Alesker Mammadli and Khalid Agaliyev summarized these proposals and sent them to the relevant committee of the Milli Majlis on December 27. Attention was drawn to 40 Articles of the bill out of 78 Articles. The question of deleting some of them, transferring them to a new edition or changing others was brought up and substantiated.
Media experts expressed the hope that their proposals will be studied, the draft in the current situation will not be rushed to the 3rd reading; and the opportunity to pass a new draft law that meets international standards and principles and does not threaten freedom of the media and journalistic activity will not be missed. —0—
