Ensuring food security, organizing public control over government investments, looking at the continuation of a strict quarantine regime, and the reasons for the fall in prices in the car market are topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes that the coronavirus pandemic has created problems in the field of food security. As a result of the quarantine regime, a shortage is formed on the market, products are not delivered to the consumer on time, and prices are jumping.
This issue, the author notes, was discussed at a meeting on July 15, chaired by President Ilham Aliyev. According to him, most of the food security has been formed in Azerbaijan.
The author notes the presence of drought, which also affects food security. However, in most regions, grain yields have increased in comparison with the previous year.
The website Müsavat.com discusses the issue of strengthening control over investment programs. Ilham Aliyev stated that all projects should be implemented on the basis of a tender, since in some cases corporate interests take over.
The head of state demands the involvement of scientists, NGOs, and media representatives in projects. During the period of the flow of big oil money, there was no control over state investment projects. This caused the loss of large funds. Unfortunately, this was remembered only now.
The website Sfera.az discusses the issue of permits for citizens to travel to regions of the country. Chief infectious disease specialist Jalal Isayev believes that lifting these restrictions is dangerous. After the restoration of stability, it is possible to resolve this issue, since at present the number of infected is not decreasing.
The website Mətbuat.az writes that prices on the car market have seriously dropped under the influence of the pandemic. Currently, car dealerships do not operate, and people are not allowed to come to the capital from the districts. All this led to a drop in prices.
In order to partially reduce the damage, it is necessary to reduce duties and create conditions for partial payment. Currently, cars are sold through websites. The fall in prices is about 10%.
