Memorial to the victims of the genocide in 1918 opened in Guba region
Baku/18.09.13/Turan : As part of a trip to the northern region of the country, Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, attended the opening ceremony of a genocide memorial complex in Guba region in memory of the tens of thousands of Azerbaijanis, victims of mass killings in spring of 1918 by the Bolshevik- Armenian forces .
To prevent the establishment of a national government in Azerbaijan and attaching the oil-rich Baku to Soviet Russia, the Bolshevik government led by Stepan Shaumyan patronized the formation of the Armenian nationalist party "Dashnakutiun", as well as the massacre of Azerbaijanis and representatives of other Muslim nations in Baku, Guba, Shamakhi, Goychay , Javad , Salyan, etc.
One hundred and sixty seven villages were completely destroyed in Guba region in April and May 1918, the town of Guba was looted and fired, and there were mass killings of Muslim and part of the Jewish population of the county.
Mass grave , which was accidentally discovered during construction works in Guba in 2007, is a clear proof of the genocide committed by Armenians.–06D—
