Press Service of the Ministry of Defense plans to introduce a system of accreditation for journalists writing on military topics, according to Vagif Dargyahly, the head of the press service. In addition, seminars , round tables and travel journalists to military units will be organized. Dargyahly admitted that such measures were taken after discussions on August 29 violations of military secrets by a number of media and Internet resources. -06D-

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
