Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) sees no irregularities in police actions against journalist
Baku / 23.11.18 / Turan: Journalist Aytaj Ahmedova received a response from the Interior Ministry on her complaint about the violence by the police. The Interior Ministry replied that the statement by Ahmedova was not confirmed during the investigation.
The journalist recalled that on October 3, she was detained while covering a protest rally of residents of the village of Zabrat. She was taken to the police station and there was physical pressure (she was slapped in the face).
The journalist sent complaints to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General"s Office.
In a response from the Internal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it is stated that the appeal of Ahmedova was investigated by the Baku City Main Police Department. During the internal investigation, no unlawful acts were committed by police officers.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs recommended that she should go to court in the event of no agreement.
The Prosecutor General"s Office notifies the journalist that her complaint is being investigated. In particular, the statement by Ahmedova was sent for investigation to the Sabunchu district prosecutor's office. The latter should provide a response following an investigation on November 26. The journalist does not exclude that in case of disagreement with the final answer, she will appeal to the court. -06D-
