Ministry of National Security reports the arrest of five Azerbaijani citizens involved in the IS
The Ministry of National Security (MNS) of Azerbaijan has reported the neutralization of five citizens suspected of involvement in illegal armed groups in Syria and Iraq, including the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS.)
The report of the MNS named of the arrested citizens: Hasayly Shirhan, Mikyailov Rovshan, Adilov Elshen, Vugar Hajiyev, and Azer Eyyubov. They are accused of creating illegal military groups, providing them with weapons, ammunition and military equipment.
The Main Investigation Department of the MNS initiated lawsuits under the Articles 12.1,279.1 (preparation for the creation of illegal armed formations, 12.3,28,214.2.1 (training for terrorism abroad) 12.1,218.2 (organization of a criminal community abroad), 283-1.3 (inciting national , racial, or religious enmity) of the Criminal Code. The detainees were arrested.
The message does not specified when and where they were detained. However, we know that the case of Mikyailov Rovshan was sent to the Lankaran Serious Crimes Court, which on August 25 sentenced Mikyailov to 13 years in prison.
Operational and investigative activities in the case of the other defendants, who in 2013-2015 participated in illegal armed groups in Syria and Iraq are ongoing.
For the above crimes the Azerbaijani legislation provides for a sentence of 20 years or life imprisonment, reminds MNS.-16D-
