Ministry of Taxes Restores Tax Sanctions against Turan News Agency
Baku / 19.09.17 / Turan: The Baku City Local Income Department of the Ministry of Taxes restored tax sanctions against the Turan news agency for 2014-2016 in the amount of AZN 37,000.
So, on September 18, three letters came to Turan's email address from the Ministry of Taxes, dated September 15. They say that the agency has debts for unpaid taxes in the amount of AZN 27,253 and interest on the unpaid debts amounting to AZN 9,294. The same letters were received by the news agency's "electronic box" on the website of the Ministry of Taxes.
Note that on September 12 Turan also received three letters from the same department of the Ministry of Taxes, dated September 11, which stated that the news agency does not have tax debts or any penalties.
We cannot explain what happened in this ministry in these few days and why the same department changed its position by 180 degrees without explaining the reasons.
It is curious that after the cancellation of the tax sanctions, the Turan news agency's accounts were unblocked. Now with the restoration of the sanctions, we should expect the blocking of Turan's accounts again.
In May, the Baku City Local Income Department accrued sanctions totaling 4,000 manat to the Turan news agency for the year 2016. However, after the administrative complaint from Turan, the higher instance of the Ministry of Taxes canceled this decision in late June. Later on August 7 the same department already charged Turan with 9,000 manat of taxes for 2016, and a total of AZN 37,000 for the years 2014-2016, and instituted criminal proceedings.
On August 25, the Turan news agency's director Mehman Aliyev was arrested. However, on September 11, he was released under a written non-departure commitment. -06D--
