More than 40 thousand people have been amnestied over the past 18 years
Baku/11.11.21/Turan: Since the beginning of the Amnesty Act it extended to 101 people, including 36 were released from prison. This was reported today by the deputy head of the main legislative department of the Ministry of Justice Elchin Nasibov at the roundtable on the Amnesty Act on the occasion of Victory Day.
Another representative of the Ministry Malik Alakbarov said that according to preliminary data, the amnesty would cover 5,800 convicts serving their sentences in penitentiary institutions and another 8,800 people. Note that the supervision over the punishment execution is carried out by the probation service.
"In total, the Amnesty Act will be extended to 17,000 people, including 15,000, to be executed by the Ministry of Justice," Nasibov said.
In turn, the head of the Department of Public Relations and Human Rights of the Ministry of Justice Aynur Sabitova said that since 2003, when Azerbaijan was headed by Ilham Aliyev there were adopted 4 acts of Amnesty and 35 orders of pardon.
Number of pardoned persons amounted to 5672, those amnestied to 40412. -05D-
