"Musavat" press secretary detained "by mistake"
Baku/11.11.22/Turan: Today at 12 noon, the press secretary of the "Musavat" party, the editor-in-chief of the Basta portal, Mustafa Hajibeyli, was detained by police at his home and taken to the 5th police department of the Binagadi district of Baku. "Two men in civilian clothes were waiting for me at the block of a residential building, they said that the police chief was inviting me, they should go to him," Hajibayli told Turan.
One policeman was named Alvin, with the rank of captain. Asking the question from Hajibeyli about the connection between his detention and the expected rallies, he gave a negative answer, adding that his boss was inviting him to a meeting. The car was not a police car.
In the office of the head Javid Ismayilzade, the participants of the meeting greeted each other. After that, Ismailzade ordered the captain to take Hajibayli back to his house.
"The police treated me politely, nevertheless, my detention is a violation of the law and pressure on me. Today, dozens of oppositionists have been taken to the police. I think this is due to the actions planned by the Popular Front Party for today and the "Musavat" Party for November 15. Oppositionists are subjected to psychological pressure so that they do not take part in protest actions," M. Hajibeyli believes.
According to him, Elshad Hajiyev, head of the press service department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, called him today and said that he was detained “by mistake”.
When asked by Turan, E. Hajiyev confirmed that Hajibeyli was detained by mistake and released. The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not confirm Hajibeyli's words about the detention of other oppositionists in connection with the planned rallies. ---06B---
