"Musavat" requires re-election

"Musavat" party does not recognize the outcome of the parliamentary elections on November 1, said at today's press conference Arif Hajili, the chairman of the party. The elections were held in an anti-democratic situation under full control of the pro-government election commissions, with  flagrant violation of the competition, as well as violation of the principles and possibilities of campaigning. In fact, elections were held without public trust and alternative. The party demands the cancellation of the election results and holding repeat elections, he said. "According to estimates of observers,  actually 10% of voters participated in the elections. This means that people simply boycotted the elections, which is an indicator of the population's attitude to the authorities," said Hajili.

On election day, there were numerous violations and falsification. Arif Hajili said that at the last moment the party refused to take part in the elections. "Participation in the elections was a tactic. We wanted to demonstrate that in spite of the persecution, repression, the pressure on the free media and the arrests, the  society can still fight. We have witnessed large-scale fraud, as well as forces of resistance of the people,"  said Hajili. He said that the party intends to appeal to the local and international courts for offenses. "We will continue to fight  with available resources," he said in conclusion. -03C04-
