Mustafa Hajibeyli is to be registered in the police office
Baku/23.12.18/Turan: Editor-in-Chief of the bastainfo.com website, Mustafa Hajibeyli, was summoned to the precinct police station, where he was informed about the decision on the transfer of "under police supervision". This preventive measure against him was elected in the framework of the criminal case, which is being investigated in the Baku Prosecutor's Office. In this regard, Hajibeyli was instructed to register on a weekly basis in the 5th office of the Binagadi District Police Department. "If I want to leave Baku, I have to inform the police about this in advance," Hajibeyli told Turan. "Thus, legal procedures in the framework of an unreasonable criminal case initiated by the prosecutor"s office are continuing," he added. "The trial will begin next month. Now, without a court decision, my freedom of movement is restricted," summed up Hajibeyli.
* On July 9, the Prosecutor General"s Office filed a lawsuit on the dissemination to the Internet of "false information" and "illegal appeals" in connection with the attempt on the head of Ganja Elmar Veliyev and the energy blackout in Mingachevir when almost all of Azerbaijan was left without power supply.
After that, the prosecutor's office appealed to the Ministry of Communications to block the sites "Bastainfo.com", "criminalaz.com", "topxeber.az" and "fia.az". At first, Hajibeyli passed as a witness. However, on November 30, he was transferred to the status of the accused, and is charged under the Articles of the Criminal Code: 281.2 (appeals against the state), 309.2 (abuse of office) and 313 (official forgery). Regarding the editor, a preventive measure in the form of police supervision was chosen. Mustafa Hajibeyli is one of the prominent opposition journalists in Azerbaijan.
