Arrests continue in the village of Nardaran, according to a local elder Natig Kerimov. According to him on December 17, four people were arrested, but later one of them was released. The fate of the other two is unknown, and the third , Huseyn Aliyev, son of the first head of the Islamic Party Alikram Aliyev, was arrested for 30 days. Searches continue in the houses. Since December 17 the arrests continue in the presence of neighbors, employees and municipalities. Today, another local resident was summoned to police.
Kerimov commented on the statement of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations on the lack of registration of mosques in Nardaran. Speaking at a youth conference Gurbanli said that all mosques in Nardaran will be re-registered in 2016 after "formed" their communities will be “formed.”
"Mubariz Gurbanli rightly says, if the mosque has just begun its work, its community must be registered. However, there are 800 year-old mosques in the village of Nardaran, and the "youngest" of the mosque is 150 years old. Now we are not allowed to the mosques for prayer, they tell us to wait," said Kerimov.
Electricity supply resumed, but in part, and there is no gas at all. The villagers lose their jobs. This is an outright "discrimination," said Kerimov.-05B-

The closure of Azerbaijan's land borders was discussed during the parliamentary session on November 25. While the government’s decision cites the coronavirus pandemic as the main reason—despite the World Health Organization declaring its end last year—Zahid Oruj, Chair of the Human Rights Committee in the Milli Majlis, pointed to other factors. He stated, "Opening the borders could result in an influx of hundreds of thousands of non-Azerbaijani refugees due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Additionally, in Iran, many are prepared to cross into Azerbaijan to safeguard their lives and assets amid military strikes. Such waves of refugees could lead to humanitarian, social, and cultural clashes that may threaten political stability."
