Nine People Arrested in Case of Mass Poisoning in Cotton Fields of Azerbaijan
Baku / 09.08.18 / Turan: Nine people have been arrested during the investigation of cases of mass poisoning in the cotton fields of Azerbaijan in June. This is stated in the message of the Prosecutor General's Office issued on Thursday.
In connection with the criminal case of the chemical poisoning of people working in cotton fields in Saatli, Terter, Imishli and other areas, the Investigation Department for Grave Crimes of the General Prosecutor's Office thoroughly studied the causes of the incident and set out the list of perpetrators.
Qualified toxicological and chemical studies were carried out for more than 200 samples taken from the scene of the accident, from the victims, from the suppliers' warehouses, and plant protection products, including reference samples of pesticides applied in the fields submitted by foreign companies.
For violation of the regulations and instructions for the introduction of pesticides into circulation, as well as the rules for the technical safety of work with fertilizers, the following people have been arrested: the executive director of the Saatli branch of MKT IK LLC Chinghiz Gezalov, the chief agronomist of the LLC Gulmammad Kuchiyev, the director of the Imishli innovation branch of the LLC Maarif Guliyev, the chief agronomist Surkhay Mammadov, the director of the Terter point for the production and harvesting of cotton of CTS Agro LLC Fegani Babyshov, the chief agronomist Elkhan Guliyev, the agronomist's assistant Habil Guliyev, the chief of the Plant Protection Center of the Saatli District Branch of the State Service for Phytosanitary Control Mirasim Talibov, the head of the Plant Protection Center of the Imishli District Gahraman Gahramanov, and the head of the Plant Protection Center of the Terter District Fizuli Azimov.
