Ogtay Gyulalyev Returns to His Homeland
Baku / 07.11.20 / Turan: The human rights activist Ogtay Gyulalyev, who is undergoing treatment at the American Hospital in Turkey, will be delivered to Baku on the night of November 8.
The human rights activist’s son Tabriz Gyulalyev said that the family refused to continue treatment in Turkey and asked for further treatment in their homeland.
T. Gyulalyev added that Ogtay Gyulalyev's treatment will continue at home.
"There are not many changes in his health. He opens his eyes and sometimes moves his arms and legs. There is no regression. We hope that our return to our homeland will be successful for our father in any case," Tabriz Gyulalyev said.
Recall that as a result of an accident on October 29, 2019, Gyulalyev received a head injury and fell into a coma a few hours later. The operation was performed on him only the next day and, according to experts, during this time the cerebral hemorrhage increased.
Later, on the instructions of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation facilitated his treatment in Turkey, where he underwent several more operations. Despite the positive dynamics of the activist's health, he still has not regained consciousness.
Taxi driver Kenan Abdullayev was brought in as a defendant in the case. Initially, he was charged under Article 263.1 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (violation of traffic rules, resulting in negligent harm to the health of the victim of moderate severity), but now he is charged under Article 263.1-1 of the Criminal Code, which takes into account the infliction of serious harm to the health of the victim. The maximum punishment under the first article is up to two years in prison, and under the second - up to three. —0-
