Opposition Fuzuli Huseynov Holds Hunger Strike in Custody
Baku / 06/22/18 / Turan: Fuzuli Huseynov, arrested member of the Popular Front Party, has been on hunger strike since the moment of his detention.
It should be reminded that Huseynov was detained on June 14 in the center of Baku after a single action he held in connection with the birthday of the convicted leader of the Republican Alternative Party Ilgar Mammadov. The court arrested him for 10 days under Article 535.1 (disobeying the lawful police requirements) of the Administrative Offenses Code.
The lawyer Javad Javadov met with Huseynov on June 21 at the Binagadi detention center for people arrested under administrative law.
"Fizuli Huseynov informed me that immediately after the arrest he went on a hunger strike as a sign of protest. He got sick badly on the fifth day of the hunger strike, but he continues it. The activist looked very listless and pale. I insistently asked Huseynov to stop the action," Javadov told Turan.
Huseynov was earlier subjected to administrative arrests: in October of last year, due to the deterioration of the state due to a prolonged hunger strike, the police tried to take him to a psychiatric hospital. However, the doctors recognized the activist as healthy. He stopped the action only after the appeal of the opposition leaders. -06D-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
