Photoblogger Veli Shukurov arrested for 30 days/UPDATED/
Baku / 05.02.23 / Turan: On February 5, the Sabail District Court of Baku sentenced photoblogger Veli Shukurov to 30 days of administrative arrest. He was found guilty under Art. 510 (petty hooliganism) and 535.1 (non-subordination to the police) of the Code of Administrative Offences. This was reported to Turan by the wife of the photoblogger Aytaj Alanur.
She considers the accusations against her husband unfounded.
According to Alanur, on the morning of February 4, Shukurov was summoned to the Binagadi police.
Shukurov was in the police for about 1 hour, then he was released. He told his wife that he had been questioned about a police officer.
“Three years ago, Veli gave this employee the number of one car and asked to know who it belonged to. Yesterday the police asked Velya why he was interested in this. Veli said that he asked for personal interest and did not distribute information about the owner of the car anywhere,” Alanur said.
According to her, after Shukurov was released, on February 4, during the day, people in civilian clothes came to their house twice, but her husband was not at the apartment.
And at about 9 pm, when she and Shukurov were returning home, he was detained.
The police did not provide any information about the reasons for the detention.
And only around 13:00 on February 5 did lawyer Zibeida Sadigova manage to find out that Shukurov had been arrested for 30 days.
This decision will be subject to an appeal.
The blogger's wife considers the charges brought against her husband unfounded.
“They were a completely calm, law-abiding person, so the charges against him are implausible. He went to the police on the first call. He was detained in front of me and then he also did not show any resistance,” Alyanur said.
It should be noted that Shukurov is better known as a travel blogger and shared photos from his travels on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/velishukurov_photo).
It should be noted that Shukurov also covered the 44-day Karabakh war in the fall of 2020 and his work was presented at a photo exhibition at the Museum of the History of Azerbaijan.—06B-

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
