
Police Officer Arrested in Mingechevir
In connection with the death of a local resident Bahruz Hajiyev in the Mingechevir City Police Department, the criminal investigator Shahlar Shahlarzadeh is prosecuted. Turan was told by the head of the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office Eldar Sultanov.
Shahlarzadeh is charged under Articles 125 (inciting to suicide) and 308.2 (abuse of power, resulting in serious consequences) and he has been arrested for 4 months.
The investigation is carried out in the Investigation Department for Serious Crimes of the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.
Hajiyev’s death in Mingechevir Police agitated the population. Many people do not believe the official version that Hajiyev jumped out the window, thinking that the young man died as a result of torture. On August 22 a protest held in the city escalated into riots and clashes with the internal troops. The police detained 21 people. -16D-
