Indicators of economic development, the need to develop a system of social protection, the causes of suicide, and the increasing cost of travel on transport are the leading topics of today's press.

The newspaper Azerbaijan assesses the economic development of the country, recalling that since 2003 the country has increased its foreign exchange earnings by 24 times, raising them to 44.3 billion US dollars, and the economy has been invested 250 billion US dollars.

According to the average monthly salary, Azerbaijan ranks 5th among the CIS countries - $ 306. According to the rating agency

Standard & Poor's, the economy of Azerbaijan for 2018-2021 will grow by an average of 3%.

The Novoye Vremya newspaper writes that the social security system needs protection. The Azerbaijani authorities always state about the social orientation of the economy. As you know, such an economy provides for the satisfaction of people's needs and the provision of services to them.

On the other hand, social economy means social benefits. As of July 1, 2018, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population provides social benefits for 409,284 people. For 6 months of this year, the ministry issued a one-time grant to 48,391 people.

For comparison: the maximum amount of the unemployment benefit in Germany is at least 2 thousand euros, and in Azerbaijan it is a little more than 200 manats. The situation with disability benefits is even worse.

The website Azadliq.info writes about the causes of suicide against the background of yesterday's attempt on the bridge Koroglu. Suicide becomes the norm of life. The reasons are different: economic reasons, bribery, bank loans, inability to receive normal treatment, etc.

The website Modern.az writes about the increase in fares on transport. The economist Gubad Ibadoglu claims that the fares will rise to 40 qepiks and this will influence inflation. -0----
