Subway and Bus Fares in Baku Increased by 50%
Baku / 07/30/18 / Turan: The Tariff Council decided to increase the cost of travel by subway and bus from August 1. The decision of the Tariff Council is explained by "an increase in the cost of passenger transportation services" and the need to import vehicles and reduce the dependence of the subway on state budget subsidies,
The cost of one trip in the Baku subway and city bus transport has been increased from 0.2 manat to 0.3 manat (0.12-0.18 dollars).
For suburban and inter-settlement routes, depending on the distances, the cost of travel will be from 0.3 to 0.9 manat (0.18 dollars to 0.53 dollars).
For intercity bus routes, a tariff of 0.24 manat (0.14 dollars) per 1 km was determined.
Previous tariffs operated on bus routes from July 6, 2007, and subway tariffs - from November 24, 2011.
At the same time, the Tariff Council indicates that even after increasing the cost of travel, passenger transportation in Azerbaijan by subway and bus will remain low compared to other CIS countries and those of the region - Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Georgia, Turkey, etc. However, in these countries, fuel is also more expensive than in Azerbaijan. --00-
