Protest in Jalilabad

In the town of Jalilabad in southern Azerbaijan (211 km from Baku) a peaceful protest was held in front of the district department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare.

Hundreds of people protest against unemployment, rising prices and problems with access to social assistance.

A local source told Turan the chief executive of the district went to meet the protesters and promised to solve their problems. However, people do not disperse. At the moment they submit documents for the consideration of applications for the establishment of social assistance.

The executive power is surrounded by police forces. They do not disperse the people yet. Note that targeted social assistance is assigned to families, if the income per family member is less than the minimum subsistence level - 105 manats.

The difference between the income per family member and the cost of living makes the size of targeted social assistance. -03B-
